Sept poèmes de haute négligence (Seven Poems of High Negligence) is a posthumous poetry collection by Belgian surrealist poet Achille Chavée (1906–69), published by Les Amis d’Achille Chavée in La Louvière, Belgium. It includes illustrations by Simon, who was a fellow member of the Hainaut surrealist group. The book was released in a limited edition of 973 numbered copies.
Chavée was a significant figure in Belgian surrealism, known for his aphoristic style and commitment to revolutionary ideals. Sept poèmes de haute négligence is part of Chavée's posthumous publications, which also include Décoctions II (1974) and Petit traité d'agnosticisme (A Little Treatise on Agnosticism, 1979). Sept poèmes exemplifies Chavée's mature poetic voice, blending surreal imagery with introspective themes, and stands as a testament to his enduring influence in surrealist literature.
Notably, some copies of the book were bound by Christine Léonard, a renowned Belgian bookbinder, enhancing their value for collectors. The collection includes a letter from Chavée to Simon, entrusting him with the illustrations and highlighting their collaborative relationship.
