Butterfly takes place in an exclusive boarding school for young women, where conventional education is accompanied by a highly unconventional approach to sexuality. The students live together in an enclosed world, and the boundaries between school life, friendship, curiosity and erotic experimentation are deliberately blurred.

The school’s teachers are very much part of that world. Far from maintaining a conventional distance from their pupils, they become participants in the erotic atmosphere of the institution, with the director in particular taking his educational responsibilities extremely seriously. Lessons and extracurricular activities become opportunities for encounters between students and staff, while the enclosed nature of the school allows the story to develop as a series of interconnected episodes rather than a single conventional romance.

The boarding-school setting gave Harrison plenty of scope for his favourite mixture of fantasy and comedy. The supposedly respectable institution becomes a self-contained erotic universe governed by its own rules, with the title Butterfly suggesting both transformation and the fleeting nature of youthful fantasy.

Butterfly Boarding School for Girls was published by La Cúpula in Spanish and English in their La Poudre aux Rêves series. It was also translated into French in the Bédé Adult series, and into German by SR Verlag in 2024.
